It has now been nearly a month since I won the bidding on the speedometer cable, and still nothing. So I've already begun plan B (we can call it "Operation Get My Money Back"). I emailed Lithia Toyota in Oregon asking for a price quote on the part, hoping that it will undercut my local Toyota dealer by a significant amount. There's a guy in the service department out there who cuts good deals for members of the MR2 Owner's Club, of which I am a part. I'm currently awaiting his reply.
And tonight I'm giving the eBay seller one last shot to contact me before I request a refund, file a claim on eBay, or refute the charge through my credit card. You can't say that I haven't been patient. Looking at the small print, he said himself on the eBay listing (which is part of a binding contract), "Items will be shipped 1 day after payment clears."
He himself admitted that he was late in shipping the item, which in itself is a breach of contract. The fact that one month has passed and I have yet to receive the item is unacceptable. In fact, I still have not received proof that it was shipped in the first place - he has not provided me with a shipment tracking number which I requested a week and a half ago.
I'll keep you all informed on the developing story. I just don't want to be out over $70 with nothing to show for it.
