Finally - done! The coolant trilogy is finished. And it turns out that about 1/3 of the total fluid wasn't flushed when I did it. It's probably because I didn't want to spend a whole day filling and draining, screwing and unscrewing all four drain points over and over again. It'll be fine.
So check another job off the to-do list. Up next...the parking brake. As a basic synopsis: there are two parking brake cables that are actuated when I lift up on the lever, each one goes to a rear wheel. One cable appears to be frozen, so that a rear brake isn't engaged, and my lever binds.
Instead of just yanking until something breaks, I'll just dive under and see which rusty part I need to spray down/replace. Thankfully my Dad is back from a business trip, since this will require two people (one to move the lever, the other to figure out where the problem is at).
Here's a photo of just how hard one of the coolant drain points is to locate (the rubber drain tube is already attached). It's a tight squeeze up between the firewall and the engine block.
